What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic care is a natural, non-invasive approach to healthcare that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions that involve the joints, spine, muscles and nervous system. Common stressors—such as poor posture, repetitive movements, de-conditioning and injuries— can contribute to joint restriction, discomfort, stiffness and altered movement patterns.
Chiropractic adjustments apply a specific, controlled force to areas of restricted movement with the goal of improving mobility. By addressing joint motion issues, adjustments can reduce feelings of stiffness and discomfort, and support more efficient movement patterns.
What makes Upper Cape Chiropractic unique?
At Upper Cape Chiropractic we take a comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal care. Generally, chiropractic treatment is associated with improving joint function and mobility. We believe that addressing the mobility of surrounding muscles and fascia is an important part of the process. We incorporate instrument assisted and manual soft tissue techniques alongside adjustments where appropriate.
Our Unique Targeted Approach
Our treatment goals at Upper Cape Chiropractic are twofold: First, we aim to support your body's natural ability to recover by improving joint mobility and reducing movement restrictions, helping you to return to the activities that matter most to you. Second, we strive to promote long-term musculoskeletal health by helping patients maintain healthy movement patterns and physical function over time.
We believe that lasting results often require more than hands-on treatment alone. Therefore, in addition to treatment we emphasize patient education and active self-management. This may include stretches, strengthening exercises, and practical advice on posture, lifting, and other everyday activities to help patients support their own well being.
Myofascial Release
Graston Technique® - patented instruments designed to pinpoint areas of soft tissue tension and injury. They allow for precise treatment that promotes healing, improves mobility, and reduces discomfort.
Trigger Point Therapy - a hands-on technique designed to identify and release painful muscle “knots” known as trigger points. By applying targeted pressure to these areas we can relieve pain, and improve circulation and movement patterns.
Physiotherapy
We utilize E-stim, heat and cold therapy to help manage pain, swelling and muscle tension. These modalities support faster recovery from injury.
Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy Techniques
Diversified - quick, specific thrust to restore joint mobility.
Cox Flexion/Distraction - repetitive slow traction and stretching movements intended to improve spinal mobility and reduce stress on spinal tissues.
Thompson Drop Table -specialized table sections that drop in sync with a manual adjustment, creating a precise, targeted correction with minimal force.
Activator Methods Technique® - hand-held instrument that delivers a gentle, precise impulse to help improve joint mobility.
Rehabilitative Exercise
Stretching and strengthening exercises taught in-office and designed to be performed at home. These exercises help address muscle imbalances, improve strength and flexibility, and enhance chiropractic treatment.
Wellness, Curated with Care
Integrative chiropractic care that blends evidenced-based treatment with a personalized approach.
